Adventures in bird hunting.
A couple years ago my mom and dad were doing some home improvements so they let me and Mama Kitty run wild outside during the day. It was so much fun. I loved sitting in the sun, enjoying the fresh air.
I decided to spend some of my time outside bird hunting. Mostly it's for sport since my mom feeds me and I don't need to eat birds. Really I like the ones my mom gives me from the can or that she takes out of the oven better. But when I'm outside I may as well hunt them.
Sometimes I like to sit really still and ignore the birds until they forget I'm there and get really close to me. Well on this day I actually caught a bird!
One minute I'm sitting with my mom and then she went in the house and when she came out I had a bird in my mouth!! It all happened so fast I can't even tell you what happened. She can't either.
My mom thinks the bird was suicidal and flew into my mouth. I know the truth though...I caught that bird by tricking it and being super fast! As soon as my mom came out I took the bird to her. She was so excited that I caught a bird for us. It was great. I was really proud.
I started playing with the bird and it was so much fun!! I was throwing it up in the air and pouncing on it when it landed. I wanted my mom to play with us too. But mom yelled for dad and next thing I knew the bird wasn't so much fun anymore and then dad took it away. Oh well. My tummy was already full from breakfast and mostly I just wanted to play.
Another day I was lounging outside and there were birds playing in the plum tree. I ignored them to trick them and they started playing on the ground. I slowly made my way over. I was going to catch another bird!!! I was ready.
Then mom came outside and scared them all away. I don't know what she was thinking. She was saying something about another bird incident to my dad. I bet she meant she was disappointed that I didn't catch us another bird. Well she shouldn't have scared them all away.
Bird hunting adventures are fun. I can't wait 'til the weather is better to have some more. For now I'll just hunt birds from the window.
